The second project meeting took place in Poland from 14th to 18th January 2013.
The second project meeting took place in Poland from 14th to 18th January 2013. 15 teachers and 32 students from Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, Bulgaria and Turkey participated in the meeting. We’ve been waiting for that moment since November.
Our common travel to traditions started in our school. Each school presented their presentations on folk songs and traditional dances. We also visited our school. The students had the opportunity to make some posters on old and living traditions of their countries. This day we took place in the meeting with local government. After that we went for a trip to Ząbkowice Śląskie, called the town of Frankenstein, and the palace in Pieszyce. The day finished with karaoke evening. The students could not only have fun but also get to know each other better.
We spend the second day in Wrocław – the capital of Lower Silesia, our region. We visited Panorama of the battle of Racławice, National Museum and cathedral. We had a very long and interesting walk around Wrocław. The only obstacle was weather. The temperature was really low.
The last day started with a trip to the Church of Peace in Świdnica. It is the largest wooden church on the UNESCO world heritage list. After dinner, we participated in the folk dance show and some workshops we also listened to Canzona choir concert of folk songs and Christmas carols.
The meeting finished with farewell dinner. It was the time to say ‘thank you’ to the participants of the meeting and all the people involved in preparing the activities. Our guests were given some presents from our school and local government. This meeting was undoubtedly the biggest event in our school and something we will never forget. The people, the atmosphere and our common travel to Polish traditions…
We are looking forward to the next meeting that will take place in Prague.

Comenius Project “A visual travel to traditions”
Second meeting in Lagiewniki ( Poland) 14th to 18th of January 2013
As I said last time, it is always important to evaluate the Comenius project working days after the meetings are behind in time. Our second meeting took place in Lagiewniki, a small town in Southern Poland, near Wroclaw, the fourth largest city in Poland.
The second meeting is the “ I wanted to meet you again” “ I missed you” one. We all were looking forward to seeing the new friends we made in Bulgaria. There were also new teachers and new students for all of us. So, in that sense, it was a new first meeting in which you already knew many people. I was delighted to see my dear friends from Bulgaria, their coordinator “ smiling” Sonya and her team ; Poland and their coordinator “ perfect English speaking” Magda and also Mariola, Mikolaj and Emilia. It was charming to meet new friends for the first time from Italy and the Czech Republic. And I was a real pleasure to meet after two years of working together without meeting with the Turkish group led by my dear “long time” partner, Meryem.
Our Polish partners were wonderful hosts. Our students were really happy after their experience living in a Polish family. They told us wonderful details about the host families´cares for them.
We could learn from each other about their countries, their traditions, their culture, their customs and their schools.
We had working sessions and cultural activities. We met the Mayor of Lagiewniki; we visited a beautiful palace, the biggest wooden church in Europe and a wonderful leaning tower next to Frankenstein´s lab. We were presented some traditional folk dances and songs. We visited Wroclaw, the main city in South Silesia. It´s a very beautiful city twin to Prague for some and equal in beauty to Krakow for others. I, particularly, liked the city very much. I could enjoy many of its main streets and monuments. It was really cold, but we enjoyed the tour very much.
We had wonderful moments together. The Karaoke night was a fantastic starting point to get to know each other. The bus was a perfect meeting point for some students, where they learnt different “school bus songs” in different languages.
And finally, the partnership dinner was fantastic. Again a wonderful meal and a precious cake with “ A visual travel to traditions” written on it.
The big surprise was the last dish after the cake consisting on a huge pig cooked wonderfully and ornamented with a flame at the moment of coming into the restaurant.
The certificates ceremony was beautiful and that was the point where the countdown to the third meeting started.
Thank you for every moment.
