Dear friends,
The more times we meet the more I miss you. My feelings after leaving Turkey were boling inside my whole being. Another meeting is gone, my new friends are far away and I will meet them again just twice again, and then...
The fourth meeting took place in Avanos, Turkey. The extremely beautiful Cappadoccia welcomed us in a springlike day of October. Our Turkish hosts, made us feel like at home.
The day started at school with the presentation of Turkey (Culture, traditions, landscapes) The students performed a Turkish wedding for us and sang typical songs. After that the rest of countries presented their videos on ceremonies. We visited the school facilities and had a wonderful Turkish snack.
The following days were fantastic. We visited underground cities, old churches dug in the rocks and decorated with Christian frescos in the oper air museum, wonderful mosques and idyllic landscapes. One night we had dinner inside a cave restaurant. The food was excellent, but the best thing was the show in front of our eyes. Over twenty performances of different traditional dances and songs from everywhere in Turkey. We enjoyed that night very much, I did not want time to pass so fast.
One of the most interesting, beautiful and unforgettable experiences I´ve ever had was the balloon flight. Very early, in the morning you have to wake up. A taxi comes to your hotel at 5:15 to pick you up and take you to a place, full of tourists, where you are given a snack and a cup of tea. Then you are divided into groups and taken to the place wher the balloons are being inflated at that very moment. Then magic starts. Still dark, you start seeing light bubbles coming up from everywhere dancing against the darkness of the last miniutes of night. Times rushes and the clarity of a new day breaks into this scene. You get on the basket and without feeling any agressive movement, you are up in the air. Silence, beauty, theland and the sky´s boundaries are blur. You are not sure if it is happening in reality or you are in the middle of a dream. The extremely beauty of this moment is difficult to be expressed in plain words. Not even pictures are close to show what your eyes barely are able to grasp.
Our meeting in Turkey was a wonderful one. We lernt a lot about their culture and tradition through the different workshops we experienced: Pottery, Ebru, carpentry... Fantastic experiences that we, oueselves could work with our own hands.
But, none of the previous incredible facts would have been the same without the company and affection of our dear hosts. Meryem, Sule, Sahide, the rest of the teachers and principals, the students who were so kind and helpful.
Thank you for a wonderful job and for being so kind and friendly.
The meeting was a real success and we all had a great time in Turkey with the rest of the members of our Comenius group.
I am looking forward to seeing you again in Italy.
Thanks.
